The Hachette Wine Guide is out for sale, since wednesday, September 6th. A reference book for wine buyers . One can find a selection of wines, tasted by a professional jury of experts while blind tastings organised in the year. Objective and independant, it is edited for all the consumers, without a narrow mind. New, this time, the WIne guide book offers a range of prices for B&B accomodations that invite you to discover the French, Swiss, and Luxembourg vinyards.
Out of 35,000 wine tasted, 10,800 were selected, among those, 260 were rated 3 stars, 1228 : 2 stars , 3819 : 1star and 485 got a «heart fit ». At the Pavillon Dauphine, François Berléand (an actor in The Chorists) and Claude Sérillon (a journalist) attributed the Golden, Silver and Bronze Grapes Awards on the occasion of a great wine tasting which was organized for the launching of the 2007 Hachette Guide book.
Château Gazin was awarded with the Golden Grape for its 2003 vintage. Three stars, « exeptional wine » (This means that this Château Gazin 2003 came out of a 35 000 French 2003 wines selection !) Christopher de Bailliencourt, co–owner of the winery, attended the event.
The 2003 vintage is 80% merlot, 5% cabernet franc and 15% cabernet sauvignon. « The wine is a very classical one, rich, elegant, complexe and full of charm. Its concentration goes on with a perfect harmony » the jury stated.
The Silver award was given to the Domaine des Perdrix, Nuits Saint Georges 1st growth, Vosne-Romanée and 2003 Echézeaux, belonging to the Devillard family, and the Bronze award given to Véronique Goupy from the Domaine de Fontlade, coteaux varois, cuvée de l'ermitage 2004.
