Château Gazin is proud to report that on the 26th and 27th of November, the winery participated in the annual Canadian « Montreal Passion Wine » tasting organized by the Société des Alcools du Québec (SAQ).
The event was organized by a Committee of Canadian businessmen and included personalities of the wine world such as Jean Saine, the founder of the tasting, Paul Kéfalas, Director General of Rootlevel inc, Maître of the Bordeaux Comandary, Denis Marsan, head of research and development at SAQ, and Michel Phaneuf, noted journalist and wine writer.
Of great significance also was that the event helped toward funding for the Hospital Foundation: the Hospital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, in Montreal.
Throughout the well-planed two days both wine owners and wine makers introduced their wines to over 300 enthusiastic wine tasters. This was then topped off by a magnificent dinner, to over 500 guests.
Wines included the Burgundies of the winery of Joseph Drouin, the Sassicaia of marquess della Rochetta, the winery of Daumas Gassac, d’Aimé Guilbert, the wines of the Torres family (Spain) and the Bordeaux of Châteaux Margaux (Margaux), Pontet-Canet (Paulliac) and Gazin (Pomerol).
In all, this event was impressive in terms of its setting, its organization, the perfect temperature of the wines and the care that the waiters took to ensure personal attention to detail. The latter, at the end, had the unenviable task to clean over 18,000 glasses!
Above all the most memorable experience was the Canadian hospitality we received. It was warm and spirited and this also reflected in their genuine enthusiasm for Bordeaux wines.
While in Canada, we also had the opportunity to visit Champlain Charest and Monique Nadeau, at the Champlain Bistro, near lake Masson, where the Quality of the cuisine equaled the quality of wines. Long life to the Quebec … and to the Canada!
